I’ve always been the sentimental hopeless romantic type. I can’t help it. And as I sit here writing this post, sending off 2012 while munching on sweet potato chips (my snack addiction of 2012), I also can’t help but be a little excited about what 2013 holds in store, both here in my little corner of the web – look for a major redesign early next year! – and in our sweet little home life that we have created here in Connecticut.
While this past year was filled with the overwhelming level of stress of building a home and moving again (photos coming soon – promise!), this coming year will be filled with the joy of putting our stamp on the place while we continue to settle in, finish unpacking (ha!), and extend our kitchen into the yard where we plan to expand our garden and make a home for a few chickens. I am so so looking forward to sharing this next step of our journey to great food with you and I thank you a million times over for all the support you’ve shown for Smells Like Home this year and always. Cheers and much love to you in 2013!
However, before we part ways for champagne and hors d’oeuvres, let me share with you my Top 10 favorites from 2012…
Red Velvet and Strawberry Trifles with Cheesecake Filling
Lofthouse-Style Soft Frosted Sugar Cookies
Baked Chicken Burritos with Sour Cream Poblano Sauce
Bacon Burgers with Bacon Onion Balsamic Jam
Smashed Avocado-Chile Tartines
Tara-so many great recipes for 2012! I always enjoying browsing through your site. Can’t wait to see/read about your new home and look forward to reading what you have for 2013:)
Cheers! xox

Thanks, Helena!
You had such a fabulous year. Good luck in 2013!
Hi Tara! What a great roundup.
I can’t wait to hear about your plans for chickens. My husband and I welcomed a couple chickens into our yard this spring. We have 10 chickens that are now laying. It has been a fun and fruitful adventure. I would love to chat if you have questions. I am also looking forward to new recipes to put the eggs to good use!
Thanks Megan! 10 chickens – that’s awesome! Thanks for the offer for some help with questions. I’m sure I’ll have plenty! 🙂
Congratulations on a very exciting 2012! You’ve already got so much lined up for 2013. I can’t wait to see it all unfold!
Lovely collection of recipes; those cranberry bliss bars have me drooling! Have a very happy start to the New Year! 🙂
Thanks, Tracy! You too!!
Everything looks wonderful!
You’ll love the chickens! I added 3 to our household two years ago and am thinking of adding 3 more…
