I can’t tell you how many years it’s been since I cooked a pork tenderloin. I don’t know – 5 maybe?

And I simply have no reason for why it’s been so long. Because every time I make pork tenderloin, I’m reminded of how incredibly easy it is to prepare and cook.

This bourbon peach BBQ grilled pork tenderloin is the ultimate reminder of how simple and incredibly tasty a grilled pork loin can be! To make it, it’s as simple as rubbing olive oil on the pork and sprinkling it with salt and pepper then grilling it. Once it’s cooked, you’ll slather it with some of my new favorite BBQ sauce and let the sauce glaze onto the pork from the heat of the grill.

The bourbon peach BBQ sauce adds just enough of a flavor punch to the pork, while still allowing you to actually taste the pork.

This recipe makes for a flat-out awesome grilled pork and one that’s fancy enough to make for dinner guests or a party (hello father’s day and 4th of July!).

The Woes of Pre-Marinated Pork

I suppose pork tenderloin even easier to prepare if you buy one of those pre-marinated tenderloin packets from the store but let me try to persuade you from buying the pre-marinated variety. I feel like it’s my job to show you that homemade, from scratch recipes are just better than most of what you can buy pre-packaged at the grocery store.

I mean, I wouldn’t still be at this food blogging thing for 12 years if I didn’t think that this was important. And I’m not about to get all preachy here.

I just want to say that most pre-marinated and pre-packaged food you can buy is overly salted. So to control and reduce the amount of salt in your food, thus theoretically making it healthier, make your food at home.Bourbon peach BBQ grilled pork tenderloin is the perfect way to cook a pork tenderloin. I fully realize that time is a big concern when cooking at home and when deciding on which ingredients to buy. Yes, pre-marinated tenderloin already comes with added flavor and it will save you time since you won’t need to do anything to prepare the pork before you cook it.

But again, the end result is an overly salted piece of meat. And that’s just not my thing.

Marinated Grilled Pork Tenderloin Recipe Ideas

To make a dead-simple marinated grilled pork tenderloin at home, I urge you to skip the pre-marinated versions. You can easily make your own marinade with homemade salad dressings!

Here are a few delicious marinades for pork tenderloin and sides to serve with each:

How to Grill Pork Loin on a Gas Grill

For this pork tenderloin recipe, you’ll need to about 30 minutes to make the bourbon peach BBQ sauce. This sauce can be made up to 2 weeks before you need to use it.

The pork (a 1-pound tenderloin) should take about 15 – 20 minutes to grill on a gas grill. Here’s how you’ll make this pork tenderloin on a gas grill:

  1. Heat a gas grill to medium-high heat.
  2. Drizzle olive oil over the pork and rub it all over with your hands.
  3. Sprinkle 2 teaspoons of Kosher salt and 1 teaspoon of freshly ground black pepper over all sides of the pork.
  4. Lay the tenderloin at a 45° angle to the direction of the grill grates.
  5. Cook for 15 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  6. Brush some of the bourbon peach BBQ sauce over the top of the pork.
  7. Flip it over and brush more of the BBQ sauce on the other side.
  8. Cook for 2 minutes then flip it once more and cook for another 2 minutes.
  9. Transfer the pork to a cutting board. The internal temperature should be around 135° F when it’s finished cooking. Let the pork rest for 5 minutes before slicing. Serve with additional BBQ sauce.

Side Dishes for Grilled Pork Tenderloin

Let’s talk about what goes well with pork loin, shall we? The obvious sides for pork in my brain are all carbs. Herbed new potatoes, basic baked potatoes, cheesy hasselback potatoes, and guacamole crashed potatoes would all be excellent potato-based dishes alongside this grilled pork tenderloin.

If you want to know what veggies go well with pork, corn, broccoli, peppers, tomatoes all would be great especially in the summer! Grilled corn would be perfect. But so would creamed corn or broccoli slaw. As would scalloped tomatoes, tomato and goat cheese tarts, and bruschetta with sauteed red peppers and gorgonzola.

For a down-home rustic side, biscuits are all but required for a pork tenderloin glazed with bourbon peach BBQ sauce. Buttermilk drop biscuits, cream biscuits, or jalepeño cheddar biscuits would all be insanely delicious with this pork!

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Heat a gas grill to medium-high heat.
  2. Coat both tenderloins in oil with your hands. Sprinkle all sides with about 2 teaspoons of salt and 1 teaspoon of pepper, dividing equally between the 2 tenderloins.
  3. Grill for 15 minutes, flipping halfway through. Brush the tops with half of the BBQ sauce. Flip and brush other side with the rest of the BBQ sauce. Grill for 2 minutes, flip and grill for 2 more minutes. This will allow the BBQ sauce to cook onto the pork.
  4. Transfer to a wooden cutting board and rest for 5 minutes. Slice on the bias and serve with extra BBQ sauce.

Notes

  1. You'll want to look for pork tenderloin that isn't marinated in the package. Most grocery stores sell 2 1-pound tenderloins in each package.
  2. This recipe is designed around my bourbon peach BBQ sauce but a similar store-bought variety would work fine here too.

Bourbon Peach BBQ Sauce Recipe

Yield: about 1 ½ cups
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 30 minutes
Total Time: 35 minutes

Bourbon peach BBQ sauce is an easy homemade BBQ sauce recipe that requires only 8 ingredients and 35 minutes to make. Sweet and tangy from the peaches, honey, and cider vinegar, along with liquid smoke and a heavy splash of bourbon gives this peach BBQ sauce a smoky finish. It's so good that you're going to want to slather it on everything!

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups ketchup
  • ½ cup molasses
  • 2 tbsp cider vinegar
  • 3 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp hot sauce
  • ½ tsp liquid smoke
  • Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 small peaches, peeled, pitted, diced
  • ¼ cup bourbon
  • 2 tbsp water (if needed)

Instructions

  1. Whisk the first six ingredients in a small sauce pan. Add salt and pepper to taste. Mix in the peaches and bourbon.
  2. Cook the sauce over a low simmer for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the peaches have softened. The sauce will thicken but if it thickens too much, stir in up to 2 tablespoons of water to loosen it up. Use immediately or transfer to an airtight container.

Storage: Store the sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
