White Pizza Pretzel Cheese Dip

WOAH you guys!! What an lovely holiday season it was! Can you even believe it’s the new year already?

This is so cliché but, where did last year go? In the blink of an eye, our little 18 month old bloomed into a chatterbox, potty-training 2 ½ year old. I mean, really?

Last year also meant some big changes for our family (see my 2019 Top 10 Recipes post for updates!), which also means LOTS more recipes for you all. I shared more recipes in 2019 (55) than in 2018 and 2017 COMBINED and I’m looking forward to more than doubling that number in 2020. I’ve got lots of deliciousness in store for you!!

To start off what’s to be an awesome year, I thought I’d bring you a flat-out awesome cheese dip recipe. It’s a white pizza dip that’s loaded up with pepperoni, garlic, fresh herbs, and a shit-ton of cheese!

White Pizza Pretzel Cheese Dip

It’s a pretzel cheese dip. It’s a cracker dip. It’s a toasted bread dip. It’s a kettle chip dip. Basically, if you can think of a dipping vessel that goes with pizza, it will go with this dip.

Many years ago, I made my first batch of soft pretzel bites and they were so incredible that I’ve made them over and over, both in full-size pretzel shapes and in bite-size form. That soft pretzel recipe is utterly perfect!!

And after all these years since I first shared them here in 2011, they still remain one of the most popular recipes on the site.

The thing is, sometimes a plain pretzel cheese sauce gets a little dull and there comes a time to switch things up a little. That’s where this white pizza dip comes in!

How to Make White Pizza Dip

This is SUCH an easy dip recipe to make! You’ll simply melt the cheeses in a pan on the stove top and then mix in garlic, herbs, and pepperoni.

I mean, does it get any easier than that?!

What Kind of Cheese for White Pizza Dip?

OK so prepare yourselves for this one: this dip has 4 kinds of cheese. FOUR!

For this pizza dip, I used mozzarella, Italian fontina, parmesan, and cream cheese. The mozzarella and fontina are phenomenal cheeses for dips because they’re super stringy when they’re melted.

If you’re not familiar with the melting power of fontina, you need to check out this baked fontina garlic cheese dip. That dip is made with only fontina and the cheese pulls are just incredible!

The parmesan adds a good bit of flavor. And the cream cheese helps pull everything together and makes the dip super creamy.

With 4 kinds of ooey, gooey, melted cheese mixed with garlic, herbs, and pepperoni, how could you go wrong?

What to Serve with White Pizza Dip

OK, so crackers, chips, and hard pretzels are probably the most obvious things to dip into white pizza dip. But I designed this dip to be a pretzel cheese dip, a totally bonkers version of the old standby pretzel cheese sauce. So obviously, big, soft pretzels are perfect for dipping too.

We made these pretzels using my go-to pretzel recipe but we shaped most of them into pretzel twists and then sprinkled them with everything bagel seasoning before they went into the oven to be baked. Flavor combo perfection!

But let’s think outside the box a little here too!

What about garlic knots? Oh my gosh YES!!

And toasted ciabatta bread? Absolutely!

If sliced up veggies are more your thing for a party snack, those would be great too! Veggies would certainly make this a great gluten-free snack option too!

The Best Game Day Dip!

Let me preface this by saying that we’re not football fans. I know! It probably sounds ridiculous, especially because we live exactly halfway between Patriots country and the Giants and Jets.

But just because we’re not hunkered down on fall and winter weekends watching football, it doesn’t mean that we don’t know our game day snacks. This pizza-y pretzel cheese dip is the best game day dip!

And because it’s a gluten free dip, you won’t have to worry about making multiple dips to meet everyone’s needs. Just make sure you’ve got some great options for dipping!

  • Fresh basil, for serving

For dipping:

  2. Garnish with remaining pepperoni pieces and some fresh basil leaves. Serve while still dip is still hot. To reheat, stick the pan back on the stove top and heat the cheese over low heat until melted again.
