These are the 2017 top 10 reader faves – the most popular new posts from 2017 on Smells Like Home. Time to dig in!
Sooo…I’m a few days late to the party with my yearly top 10 reader faves post! Who knew having a 6 month old in the house just sucks up allll of your time?!
But really though, 2017 was a fantastic year for Kyle and me. In fact, with Riley’s arrival to our family, it was pretty much the exact opposite of the incredibly sad and depressing year of loss we experienced in 2016. 2017 was full of joy.
Our adoption journey continues into 2018 – read Part 1 here – but all of the stressors and unknowns of the process are gone; we are now just awaiting a court date to finalize Riley’s adoption and we couldn’t be more thrilled. Eeeeeep!!!
We definitely didn’t cook as much as we normally do – and ate entirely too much take out as a result. Between 3 months of foster-adoption licensing classes followed by 3 months of realtor training classes for me followed by a vacation and then Riley’s arrival in August, it was an insanely busy year which didn’t leave a lot of time for cooking.
What recipes did make it up on the blog in 2017 continue to show me how much you all love my baking posts. And who can blame you?
The top post of 2017 was the giant wrinkly chocolate chip cookies I posted way back March, a wonderful update to the classic chocolate chip cookie from one of my favorite bloggers and cookbook authors, Sarah Kieffer, which made its way to be featured in the NYT and garner a new and hilarious name: pan-banging cookies. You seriously need these cookies in your life.
As with all of my top 10 posts from that past 10 years, you’ll find the links to each recipe after the photo below (clockwise from top left).
After 10 ½ years (!!!) of making, photographing, writing about, and sharing the over 800 recipes on this little site, I can’t thank you enough for all of your continued support for what I do here. YOU are what make this space what it is.
I wish you the absolute best for the year to come and I’m SO EXCITED to share more of our life with Riley with you this year as well as tons more unapologetically delicious food. Cheers!
