BBQ Ranch Dip: A perfect double-duty chip dip and veggie dip, this ranch dip is creamy, smoky, a little spicy, and completely addictive for all your dipping needs!
I’m always on the hunt for new homemade chip dip recipes to try out because I’m of the mindset that one can never have too many dip recipes for dipping chips.
And I’m not talking about chunky buffalo chicken or layered taco dips where tortilla chips are almost a requirement for dipping. I’m talking about dreamy sour creamy types of dips.
You know, the type of dip that just begs for a crunchy and salty potato chip!
Like bacon caramelized onion dip. And dill pickle dip.
Because when we host parties, it’s inevitable that everyone will gather around the chip bowl.
Do your parties end up looking like this too? It’s like I always need to buy double the amount of potato chips than tortilla chips, no matter what kinds of dips I put out!
So naturally, I feel it’s important to have really great dip for dipping those chips. And bonus points if that dip can do double-duty for dipping veggies too because let’s face it, not all dips can serve both purposes.
I don’t know how you feel but I’m not a fan of dipping veggies in onion dip. It’s just not the right match!
This BBQ ranch dip however, is the BEST chip dip and the BEST veggie dip too! It’s my ultimate double-duty dip!
An All-Purpose BBQ Rub
When I made my BBQ spice rub for the first time last summer, I knew it would be incredible on all kinds of grilled meats and seafood. I mean, it’s a little sweet and hella smoky and it’s just begging to be rubbed all over grilled ribs and chicken.
But it wasn’t until I remade a batch a few weeks ago that I realized it would also work for mixing into things too. Like, you know, butter for grilled corn.
And then I was like, “OMG what if we mixed this in to ranch and sour cream to make a CHIP DIP??” Can you just feel the level of my excitement with this idea?!
So the spice rub that was only intended for grilled meat has now gotten a makeover twice over and I want to tell you that you need to RUN and make a batch rightthissecond. It’s now my all-purpose spice rub so you may be seeing a few other recipes pop up over the next few months as I brainstorm my way through the summer.
An Easy Chip and Veggie Dip for Entertaining
Anyway, back to this BBQ ranch dip recipe! Let me gush about it a little more to you.
You need this dip in your life. It’s cool, creamy, smoky, and a little spicy all at the same time. It’s the PERFECT chip dip and works amazingly as a veggie dip too.
We had some friends over recently and we snacked on a chips and a bunch of veggies with this dip by the pool one weekend afternoon and I’ll tell you something: entertaining doesn’t get easier than this!
I washed, cut up, and stuck all of the veggies in small zip top bags the night before we were set to have our friends over. And I made this dip the night before too.
And then I spent the morning hanging out with Riley and picking up the house. (#momlife) Right before our friends were set to arrive, I laid out the veggies with some chips on a serving board and dropped the dip in the center. I made a pitcher of drinks and I was good to go!
Considering how much I love to cook, I don’t love thinking about entertaining people. It just makes me anxious. But I’ve been taking some cues from one of my favorite entertaining bloggers and I’m starting to feel a little more inspired recently.
And in its own way, this chip dip helps to boost my entertaining confidence just a little!
