How to Make Spaghetti Pancakes

Here are the easy instructions for how to make these pancakes without buttermilk! Be sure to keep scrolling down to the recipe card below for the full set of Instructions!

STEP 1: Whisk the eggs, milk, sugar, and salt together. Add the flour and melted butter and whisk vigorously until completely smooth.

The batter for the Spaghetti Pancakes has been whisked until smooth in a glass measure cup.

STEP 2: Heat a pancake griddle and the oven, where you’ll keep the spaghetti warm.

A hand is pouring the Spaghetti Pancake batter from a glass measure cup into a plastic squeeze bottle.

STEP 3: Transfer the pancake batter to a plastic squeeze bottle. Grease the griddle. Squeeze the pancake batter into lines as you cover the griddle with batter lines.

PRO TIP!

The best way to make these pancakes is to use a plastic squeeze bottle to create batter lines on the griddle. The thin, runny batter will squeeze out easily from a bottle since there won’t be any lumps in the batter. And as a bonus, if you get tired of simple lines, you can draw all kinds of pancake shapes on the griddle! Be sure to check the “Recommended Products” section of the recipe card for my go-to squeeze bottles!

STEP 4: Allow the batter to cook for just a couple of minutes. Using non-stick tongs, a non-stick spatula, or two wooden skewers, slide the spaghetti pancakes together as you gently scrape them off the griddle.

STEP 5: Transfer the spaghetti pancakes to an oven-proof plate/platter as you take them off the griddle and slip the plate/platter into the oven to keep them warm while you repeat the process.

Ideas for Pancake Toppings

To serve these Spaghetti Pancakes, pile up some of the pancakes up in a heap on a plate, just like you would for a bowl of spaghetti.

To go really basic with your “spaghetti”, top the pile with a couple pats of butter and drizzle some maple syrup over the top.

Do you love peanut butter and bananas together? Then you’ll love this peanut butter sauce with sliced bananas on top of these pancakes!

Maple syrup is being drizzled on top of a pile of Spaghetti Pancakes.

Or are berries on or in your pancakes more your thing? For strawberry pancakes, go with this strawberry topping. My vanilla blackberry syrup is also an excellent option for drizzling over your pile of spaghetti pancakes. And of course, fresh berries are perfect here too!

I’m a big believer in adding protein to my pancake breakfasts and a fried egg on top of these spaghetti pancakes is just SO GOOD when a savory runny yolk hits the sweet maple syrup. Yum!!

How to Store Spaghetti Pancakes

If you have any leftover spaghetti pancakes, store them in an airtight container or zip top bag in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.

How to Reheat Spaghetti Pancakes

To reheat these pancakes, warm them up in a foil packet in a 275 degrees F oven for about 10 minutes, just until warmed through. You don’t want to heat them for too long or they will dry out.

Don’t use the microwave to reheat pancakes. The microwave makes pancakes rubbery when they reheat.

What to Serve with these Loopy, Twisty Pancakes

With carb-filled breakfasts – or breakfast for dinner if you go that route with these pancakes – I always include fruit and protein on the side.

A pile of Spaghetti Pancakes is topped with butter and maple syrup on a white round plate. There is crispy bacon and fresh fruit on the plate with the pancakes and cups of coffee behind the plate.

Simply pick your family’s favorite fruit and serve it up in a big bowl to pass around the table.

To add some protein to this meal, a serving of Greek yogurt on the side with some fruit on top is an excellent option.

Breakfast sausage links or patties, bacon, Canadian bacon, or leftover pulled pork or grilled steak would all be excellent with these spaghetti pancakes.

And as I mentioned above, I absolutely love an over-easy fried egg on top of my pancakes! However, eggs cooked any way will add a good balance of protein to this sweet carb-y meal.

Ingredients

  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup plus 2 tbsp milk
  • 3 to 4 tbsp granulated sugar
  • ¼ table salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp salted butter, melted
  • Salted or unsalted butter, for the griddle and serving

Instructions

  1. Whisk the eggs, milk, sugar, and salt together in a 4-cup glass measuring cup (this makes the transfer in the Step 3 easier). Add the flour and melted butter and whisk vigorously until completely smooth.
  2. Heat a pancake griddle to medium heat. Heat the oven to 250 degrees F.
Transfer the pancake batter to a plastic squeeze bottle. Grease the griddle with butter. Turn the bottle upside down over the griddle (it helps to give it a shake as the bottle gets lower), and starting from one side of the griddle, squeeze the pancake batter into 8- to 10-inch lines as you cover the griddle with batter lines.
  3. Allow the batter to cook for just a couple of minutes; small bubbles will start to form when the pancake lines are done. Using non-stick tongs or two wooden skewers and starting on the side of the griddle you started the lines on, slide the spaghetti pancakes together as you gently scrape them off the griddle. They will start to bunch up and look like a bunch of spaghetti.
  4. Transfer the spaghetti pancakes to an oven-proof plate/platter as you take them off the griddle and slip the plate/platter into the oven to keep them warm while you repeat the process.
  5. To serve, pile some of the spaghetti pancakes up in a heap on a plate, just like a plate of spaghetti. Top with a couple pats of butter and some syrup drizzled over the top.
